Description
The action took place from 1917-1922 in Kyiv. The government has changed fourteen times since then, but the novel’s historical background serves only as a background to the biography of the artist Les Lozovsky. He studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Arts under Heorhii Narbut and Mykhailo Boychuk; he has created covers for books and music notes. On the night of March 22, 1922, when Less was 22 years old, he was strangled in his apartment. Jewels were laid out around the corpse. The circumstances of Les Lozovsky’s death have not been clarified yet. Kateryna Lebedeva’s novel “22. A Mystical Case on the Ascension Descent in Kyiv” tells about Lozovsky’s life from the moment he entered the Academy of Arts in November 1917 until the artist’s death. The novel’s heroes are those with whom Less communicated: Heorhii Narbut, Mykhailo Boychuk, Anatolii Petrytskyi, Oleksandra Ekster, Oksana Pavlenko, Ivan Padalka, Les Kurbas, Mykhailo Semenko, Oleksandr Murashko, and others. The book is characterized by historical authenticity, psychology, and a fascinating plot. The story of Les Lozovsky’s life and death is impressive.
