The book consists of classic works by the prominent Ukrainian ethnographer and anthropologist Fedir Kindratovych Vovk (1847–1918): “Anthropological Characteristics of the Ukrainian People” (1916), “Ethnographic Characteristics of the Ukrainian People” (1916), “Marriage ritual and ceremonies in Ukraine” (1890), “Sleigh in the funeral ritual in Ukraine” (1896). As a representative of the French anthropological school, Fedir Kindratovich used the latest research methodology and at one time wrote almost the first comprehensive study on the ethnography of Ukrainians.
