Description
The collection conveys the experiences of anticipating and living a full-scale war. One of the important themes of the collection is the perception of time: a night stretched out for a century, the pulsation of years and minutes, the meditative “pure flow of the moment”, “as if God pressed pause”. This is poetry, the rhythm of which sometimes takes your breath away, sometimes helps you feel the silence, but which ultimately gives you a sense of the continuation of life in its various forms.
The collection is illustrated with attention and love by Mitya Fenechkin. The technique of watercolor pencils on paper is eloquent, tight and more than ever apt in times of harsh contact with reality. The illustrations not only enhance the meditative nature of the collection, but also “work” as a precisely selected visual rhyme to Oleg Kadanov’s texts.
